About this event

Low Cost - In order to cover the costs of our training provision, we charge the low price of £25 per delegate.

Advantage is invisible - understanding unintentional discrimination

Course Content

In this short course, delegates will improve their understanding of the nature and patterns of discrimination.  We will focus primarily on unintentional discrimination and explore why it is so prevalent despite our best intentions. The role of the dominant identity in shaping our working culture and practices will be discussed, and we will consider the persistent pattern that advantage tends to be hidden from those that have it. Finally we consider where unintentional discrimination may occur in our own contexts, and what we can do to tackle it.

  • The role of the dominant identity in shaping our policies, practices and working culture
  • Which aspects of diversity are protected by law and why?
  • Identifying unintentional discrimination and why it is often hidden from us

Who Is The Course For?

The training is intended for anyone who is keen to promote fairness in their work (including voluntary work and faith community engagement).

Note - most of the content of this course is also covered in our session entitled '3 mottos for equality, diversity & inclusion'. If you have already attended that session you are of course welcome to come for a refresher, but there will be a lot of similarity!

Please get in touch if you have any access needs or want to discuss the course.
