Event description
We talk about our experiences using Solar and Haybox cookers to save energy and our range of fuel efficient cook stoves.

About this Event

Solar cookers use the power of the sun to cook food directly. Over the years we have made and acquired a small collection of Solar Cookers. We describe them and show the different types of cookers and highlight their features.

A Haybox is an insulated box in which you place your partly cooked food. The heat energy held in the pot and the food completes the cooking process without any external heat input. In this workshop learn about all the benefits of Haybox Cooking, how to get the best results and to make one at home using readily available materials.

Fuel efficient cook stoves burn small pieces of wood to boil water and cook food while producing less smoke than a traditional three stone fire. We work through the design of the JAZ stove which is now being made in Sri Lanka as well as flat pack ones suitable for wild camping.

This is a zoom event with small class sizes to promote interaction and time for plenty of questions.
