Southend, Saturday 16 and 30 June
A seminar with two school visits to further explore risk, challenge and adventure in the early childhood phase. In between the two sessions delegates will be asked to change one thing in their outdoor setting, document and evaluate it and then feedback at the second session to all delegates.

Aims:
•To consider different ways of seeing young children - powerful, active and adventurous in outdoor environments.
•To reflect upon how we can ensure our outdoor spaces provide for these confident risk-takers and adventurers.
•To consider aspects of leadership outdoors in order to optimise the quality of learning and teaching all year round.
•To enhance and document practitioner confidence in challenging children indoors and out in providing adventurous play.
Trainer
Kathryn Solly, B.Ed., M.A. Early Years trainer, consultant, author and Froebel Travelling Trainer. Kathryn Solly has taught across all the phases of education including two years in Papua New Guinea. She realised that if she was to really make a difference she had to re-train to teach in the Early Years and has since achieved a special needs qualification and an M.A. in Early Education and Care. She is also a founder member of KEYU – Keeping Early Years Unique.
Her first book Risk, Challenge and Adventure in the Early Years will be followed soon by one about Leading Learning Outside.
Cost: £150 in total for the two days, includes lunch
