Event description
Develop your understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and adapt your working style to those with ACEs.

About this Event

This training is free to all those working in a professional & volunteer capacity in the Blackburn with Darwen area

A Blackburn with Darwen study found that almost half (47%) of adults across the Borough have suffered at least one ACE, with 12% of adults in Blackburn with Darwen having suffered four or more ACEs. The study has shown that the more ACEs individuals experience in childhood, the greater their risk of a wide range of health-harming behaviours and diseases as an adult.

This training session sits alongside the Blackburn with Darwen ACEs video to develop an in-depth understanding of ACEs and their potential impact on thoughts, feelings & behaviours. It aims to heighten empathy towards service users who have experienced ACEs and put this increased knowledge into practice in day-to-day work with service users across sectors.

By the end of the session participants will have:

  • Developed their understanding of ACEs and their effect on behaviours & decision making
  • Increased their empathy towards service users & the general public
  • Learned to adopt their practice to show empathy & understanding of ACEs
