Advice for Bilingual Families – recent research findings and their implications for day to day decision making

Dr Froso Argyri (Centre for Applied Linguistics, UCL Institute of Education) will discuss recent research about the language development of children who acquire more than one language, how bilingualism influences different cognitive skills, and biliteracy. She will explain the implications of this research for day to day decision making for those in multilingual families.

There will be considerable time allowed for Q and A and discussion.

Dr Froso Argyri’s is researching bilingual and multilingual language development in childhood. She has published in international journals such as Bilingualism: Language and Cognition. Froso is one of the co-founders of UCL BiLingo: a Bilingualism/Multilingualism Education and Information Service that aims to provide the London community with the most up-to-date research-based advice, information, support and training on childhood bilingualism/multilingualism (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/bi-multilingualism)
