Event description
Join us at the AAFDA Information & Networking event and discover more about our work supporting families bereaved by domestic homicide.

About this Event

Find out how families feel about the work that we do to help them navigate the statutory processes following a domestic homicide and beyond.

Discover how you can help support families to explore the options available to them when choosing specialist advocacy and peer support.

Network with colleagues and share best practice.

As part of the Draft Domestic Abuse Bill AAFDA has received a Home Office Grant with the aim of Increasing the number of bereaved families who receive advocacy support. We will do this by increasing awareness of the importance of advocacy; increasing routes for advocacy to be offered and helping professionals to engage and maintain engagement with families in relation to Domestic Homicide Reviews.

During 2019 AAFDA are hosting a series of events across the country and we invite you to come and learn about the advocacy service available to families and how you can support families to understand the benefits of AAFDA’s free advocacy service which can be accessed via the National Homicide Service.

We are particularly keen to invite:

• Police Family Liaison Officers

• Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) Chairs/Authors

• DHR Panel Members

• Serious Case Review Chairs

• Community Safety Partnership Managers

We also extend a warm invitation to families and friends bereaved by domestic abuse.

This event is free of charge. Refreshments, including lunch, are provided.

During this one day event you can expect to hear personal experiences from a family who have benefited from the services of AAFDA plus information from one of our AAFDA Advocates.

There will be an opportunity to learn about the Home Office DHR Guidance from experts and to discuss language and approaches to engaging with families after domestic homicide.

We have allowed time in the day to network and share best practice with colleagues and associates in the field of working with families after domestic homicide or conducting Domestic Homicide Reviews.

Each event has just 50 places for delegates. We will be hosting a number of events across England during 2019.
