About this event

This is a blended learning course that requires home study including pre-course reading and assessment preparation before the 1-day face-to-face intensive that completes the course. Course places will be strictly limited to provide a semi-private course experience.

Learning hours:

  • Pre-course reading: 8-10 hours
  • Completion of pre-course tasks/assessment prep: 4-6 hours
  • Face-to-face course duration: 10 hours (9am-7pm)

The Spin City Advanced Aerial Hoop Instructor Course will develop your coaching skills and provide you with the techniques to empower your students to become more self-motivated and inquisitive aerialists. We will take an in-depth look at dynamic movement with focus on strong postural alignment, clean execution and bilateral training.

Pre-Requisites: The Spin City Intermediate Aerial Hoop Course or an equivalent endorsed certification, plus a minimum of 3 years’ aerial hoop experience. We recommend approximately 50-100 practice hours at an intermediate and advanced level (e.g. attending classes/workshops/shadowing/co-teaching/working with a mentor/lesson observations).

Pre-Course Tasks: You will be required to read the theory section of this course and complete some short written tasks, along with a lesson plan in the printed manual provided prior to attending.

Assessment: This course is assessed in two stages; stage 1, complete your technical assessment demonstrating an ability to perform a minimum of 80% of the course moves with safe and correct technique. Guidance for this can found in the Instructor Training Manual and course videos provided. Stage 2, teach your planned advanced level class to your fellow course attendees.

Please note: subject to government guidance, we may be unable to provide physical spotting practice on this course. In this instance we will require a short video submission to assess your spotting technique. We will be happy to discuss requirements in advance of booking; full details will be provided with your welcome pack.

Support: All course documentation will be posted to you within 14 days of booking and you will receive contact details for your pre-course mentor, who can be contacted within business hours with any questions you may have. Your mentor will be happy to discuss course expectations and assessment requirements. Learners are able to send in videos (for form checks) or documents (such as choreography/lesson plans) ahead of the course for feedback in any areas directly relating to the course content or assessed tasks.

Throughout the course, your tutor will model the teaching techniques laid out in the instructor manual and provide you with the opportunity to refine your teaching practice and technical skills, while giving regular feedback. They will also provide you with formal feedback on your assessed lesson at the end of the course.

You can view a sample from the video library below, if you'd like further information, or to see a list of the moves included in the course syllabus, you can contact us via email on: spincityaerialfitness@gmail.com
