This one-day workshop on aerial hoop will cover the following:
Static workshop: Flexibility and Hangs
-different flexibility moves based on lower back, upper back, shoulders and splits flexibility.
-hangs from toes (double and single), heels, elbow, wrists and long arm hangs (double and single)
Dynamic workshop: rolls, drops and slides, spinny hoop
-rolls such as lion rolls, front balance split rolls, elbow rolls etc, and twists on traditional rolls such as reverse millwheels, reverse barrel rolls, reverse sit ups etc.
-drops&slides, such as drops into front balance and into straddle hang.
-spinny hoop: you will learn the correct technique for spinning and maintaining a constant spin throughout a routine. An opportunity to put moves together (learned on the day or from your own repertoire) with a good spin.
This workshop is open to mixed level ability, however please note the minimum requirement for attendance is the ability to straddle invert/pike without assistance. Absolute beginners or those who have never been on aerial equipment before are discouraged to join, thanks for your understanding!"
About Ana Cerrato
"I graduated from Circus School in 2007 in Bristol, having completed a professional circus degree course specialising in aerial acrobatics. I have since worked as a professional performer and aerial instructor both in the UK and internationally.
My performing credits include corporate clients such as Amazon, Volkswagen, Iceland, DeVere, Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, Royal Navy HMS and more, as well as five years of Christmas corporate shows with Best Parties Ever in various locations across the UK. I have performed at venues such as London Natural History Museum, Ascot Racecourse, ICC Birmingham and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park amongst others. Non corporate events include a year long tour with a traditional circus company in North India, a UK summer tour with London based Generating Company circus theatre show, as well as private events, festivals and weddings throughout the UK.
My teaching credits include Aerial Instructor for the aerial dancers of the Bollywood productions at Kingdom of Dreams, Delhi, India; Aerial Instructor at No Fit State Circus, the UK's leading large- scale contemporary circus company; and a thriving private practice in Bristol where I currently teach aerial acrobatics to over fifty students."
What to Wear
Please wear clothing which covers your skin (including a long sleeved top), but nothing with zips, studs etc. and no jewellery which may damage the equipment. Also ensure nails are cut short. If the tutors consider that you are inappropriately dressed for the activity, you may not be allowed to take part and a refund will not be offered.
What to Bring
You may wish to bring water, a notebook, pen, and a camera.
Non-attendance and refunds
If you purchase a place on this workshop and subsequently find that you are unable to take it up please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know. We will try and resell your place in which case you will be reimbursed. Unfortunately we will not be able to reimburse you unless we resell your place, and this is not guaranteed.
