Event description
The Spin City Intermediate Aerial Sling Instructor Course will expand your instructional toolbox, introducing dynamic moves to the mix.

About this Event

This course will develop on from the basic skills taught at the beginners’ level while adding on the next block of moves in the Spin City syllabus. At this point in your instructor training, we start increasing your knowledge of core concepts such as training lifting, execution and clean movement. We will then expand your instructional toolbox, giving you a range of teaching methods that work effectively when students are at height and inverted. We will discuss class planning in the context of progress chains and how you can use combinations and sequences to both challenge your students, avoid them hitting move plateaus, and ensure safe progression to an advanced level.

This is a blended learning course that requires pre-course reading and assessment preparation before the face to face course weekend.

  • Pre-course reading: 8-10 hours
  • Completion of pre-course tasks/assessment prep: 4-6 hours
  • Recommended practice hours: 50-100 hours (e.g. attending classes/workshops/shadowing/co-teaching/working with a mentor/lesson observations)
  • Face to face course duration: 16 hours (9am-5pm each day)

Pre-Requisites: The Spin City Beginners Aerial Sling Course or an equivalent endorsed certification, plus Aerial Sling/Silks experience (minimum of 2 years recommended).

Pre-Course Tasks: Please note, you will be required to read the theory section of this course and complete the short written tasks in Unit 4 prior to attending. You will also be expected to prepare assessment paperwork for day 2 of your course. All course documentation will be posted to you within 14 days of booking.

Assessment: This course has a two part assessment; stage 1, complete your Technical Assessment on day 1, demonstrating an ability to perform a minimum of 80% of the course moves with safe and correct technique. Guidance for this can found in the Instructor Training Manual and course videos provided. Stage 2, teach an hour long intermediate class on day 2 of the training course.
