Autism and SEND: key issues and good practice

Autism Education Trust is pleased to present this major conference for all those concerned with developing good, inclusive practice for autistic children and young people and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) from age 0 to 25.

The programme is designed to support practitioners, commissioners, parents and young people in understanding the current macro policy context of SEND provision and a range of good practice perspectives to add real value to personal and professional experience.

Speakers and topics are:

  • Robert Goodwill MP, Minister for Children, Young People and Families. ‘SEND and Inclusion – a government perspective’
  • Dr Karen Guldberg. ‘Transforming Autism Education: developing evidence informed practice across the age range’
  • Professor Richard Mills. ‘Recognising and reducing stress around autism'
  • John Simpson. ‘My Life in Education – a personal reflection’
  • Suzanne Farrell. ‘Counting What Counts’: Demonstrating pupil progress - rationale and practice’
  • Dr Michael McCreadie. ‘The relational nature of behaviours of concern’

The conference will include tea/coffee on arrival, an excellent networking lunch, afternoon tea/coffee and a quiet room will be available should this be required.
