On this day of the festival, Ogiek land defender Leonard Mindore and Maguzawa oral historian Kamilu Hassan Hamza will share stories of the indigenous people of Mau Forest in Kenya and Yarmariya Bush in Nigeria

This ticket includes a booking for the opening of the festival to be held on Saturday October 26, 2024.

15:30-16:30 The Trees of the Maguzawa, Hausa Animists with Kamilu Hassan Hamza


This events is for all ages, and accessible to all. Rehreshments are available at the festival camp, and there are access-free toilets also available.


Kamilu Hassan Hamza

Kamilu is an orial historian, author and keeper of stories of the Maguzawa or Hausa animists, also founder and director of Al Fitra school in Kano, Nigeria and project lead of Guardians Worldwide Nigeria.


Leonard Mindore

Leonard is a land defender and community leader of the Ogiek people of Mau Forest, director of Program for the Heritage of Ogiek and Mother Earth (Pro-Home)
