Description

Assessing Pupil Progress and Target Setting for pupils and students with PMLD and SLD who consistently and over time, work at or below the early levels of the National Curriculum. Those who work with pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties will be aware that the Rochford Review has taken a completely new line in recommending that the P scales no longer be used as a statutory assessment instrument.

The Review has, however, largely left it to individual schools to formulate their own policies based upon their individual pupil populations and this in itself may create problems and uncertainties. This day is about finding and celebrating ways in which pupils who are working within P Scales and the lower reaches of the Level Indicators actually do make progress, and (most importantly) convincing Ofsted and the other powers that be, that these are legitimate indicators of attainment.
