Thank you for joining us for our Labour conference fringe event:

“After Scunthorpe”

September 30th

At Quaker Meeting House, Liverpool
5pm arrival
Panel 5pm ending 7pm

Since the Steel Industry (Special Measures) Act 2025 government-aided reindustrialisation has become a more realistic prospect.

What can a Labour government do to protect and develop British industry, create jobs and careers in manufacturing and promote mutualism and co-operation?

Can Labour re-orient itself away from a party of degree educated graduates and toward the needs of people in trade and industry careers?

WHAT DO WE WANT TO DISCUSS:

● Frontline stories from the labour movement and the battle against deindustrialisatio in various industries

● The long term effects of deindustrialisation and loss of industry in communities Labour has historically represented

● What approaches could be taken to mitigate loss of industry, and could mutuaL ownership models pioneered in South America and Europe be supported by A Labour Government?

● How has foreign ownership of strategic business and manufacturing placed cruciaL forms at risk

● What opportunities does the UK’s status as a country outside of the EU offer?

● What does deindustrialisation mean for once loyal Labour seats
