After the Pandemic - Showcase
Thursday 09.07.20, 7–9pm
To wrap up the summer school, the After the Pandemic team and The Design Weans will be hosting the final showcase of the presentation of submissions that we receive, responding to the 6 set briefs – Second Wave, Make Glasgow Better, No Vacancies, G for Green, Social Distancing is The New Normal, and an Open Brief. The presentation, looking at ideas for Glasgow and how the city can be greener and more resilient post-pandemic, will be in front of industry professionals, decision makers and councillors who will advise on how to make your projects come to life. Let’s make our voices heard!

Send your submissions to atpsummerschool@gmail.com by midnight on Sunday the 5th of July.
We will go through your submissions and send out invitations to join the event to present your outcome on the 9th of July. All submissions will be represented at the After the Pandemic Showcase and we will focus in more detail on a series of them - the people who submitted these proposals will be asked to present them in a little more detail for 5 minutes, expanding on the ideas contained within them.
Suggested submission guideline –
There are no restrictions on what you can submit for the summer school. We are expecting poems, films, drawings and musical pieces, and encouraging others to submit their ideas in a medium that suits them. However, we have suggested below a structure which may help you present your ideas.
10-slide presentation to explain the following;
→ Identifying an issue → Research → Audience → Limitations → Development → Solution/Outcome/Speculative scenario

After the Pandemic is an initiative established by Lateral North, Fergus Bruce and Laura McHard which explores how we RETHINK, REIMAGINE and REDESIGN the spaces and places within our urban environments and how we can respond to the pandemic to make them greener, sustainable and more resilient. The initiative was launched as a response to us being confined to our homes, and as we considered the outside we wanted to see us build back better through community-focused and design-led projects which put people at the heart of a green recovery.
The Design Weans is Glasgow’s branch of The Design Kids, which is an international organisation aiming to bridge the gap between design students/grads and the design industry. We have been going for two years now, running workshops, talks, networking evenings and exhibitions for Glasgow's creatives. We have a popular Glasgow based social following on instagram, over at @thedesignweans, and our parent organisation @thedesignkids has a very large global following. Please see the wee pdf attached to give you a little idea about what we do.
