Join us for this fun, interactive and educational course for your child, learning about nature!

About this Event

London Bushcraft is providing interactive, fun and educational sessions for children during lockdown. The session will run once a week for 5 weeks and be at 4:00pm each day. They will; make a science experiment to learn how stalactites are formed in , caves, make bird feeders, bug houses and more.

During the week they will learn about:

Learn about caves and how stalactites are formed - Thursday 18th June

Learn about how stalactites are formed in caves through this science experiment you will do. You will also learn about how caves are formed and how animals have adapted to cave life.

Egg head planters- Thursday 25th June

Learn about how food grows and the different stages a seed goes through to grow the food we eat. They will start the process of growing seeds in their egg head planter this week, and we will decorate it. The children can then watch it as it grows. If the children then wanted to plant them in the ground, the egg shell planters can be planted into the ground.

Make a bird feeder - Thursday 2nd July

You will learn some important facts about birds and how we can support birds to thrive and we will make a bird feeder.

Learn how to make a camping treat! - Thursday 9th July

Today you will learn about how to make one or two two delicious camp fire treats! Today we will cook them indoors in an oven but you will be prepared next time you have a campfire of how to make these delicious treats! Learn about how you would build a cooking fire and then you will make one or both of these treats, depending what ingredients you have available to you.

Make a bug house - Thursday 16th July

In this session you will learn all about bugs and why they are so important for the eco-system . You will then make your own bug house.

All of the above can be done either indoors or outdoors and can be done in a flat or a house with minimal adult supervision and with equipment that is easily found. Four of the sessions have a practical element that the children will do themselves.

Each will be o n a Thurday at 4pm and last approximately 40 mins. Ideas will be given each session about what they could learn about between the sessions. Children can sign up as individuals or with a group of friends. For group bookings, times and dates are flexible. Group size will be a maximum of 8.

Sessions suitable for ages 6+ or 5+ if accompanied by an older sibling or parent.
