Age 10- 110 Level 2 Bikeability/ National Standards Cycling Training
Tue 30 May 2017, 09:30 – 16:00 BST
We are making Bikeability (cycling proficiency) avaliable to everyone! No matter what your age we think everyone should be able to learn National Standards Cycling to help you become safer and more confident on the road. Bikeability is only avaliable to children aged 10-16 but we will follow their syllabus and National Standards to teach you the skills to be confident to cycle in modern road conditions.
More information is avaliable at:https://bikeability.org.uk/ . We will be covering levels 1 and 2. The basics (control, handling, steering, gears) will be covered in about 1.5 hours on the school playground followed by lessons on local streets to cover: correct positioning, signalling, dealing with the unexpected, roundabouts, junctions on major and minor roads, U turns, passing traffic, and hazards.
Everyone must wear a helmet and shoes with a strong sole e.g. trainers, not sandals. Gloves are also recommended. Bear in mind you will be outside for most of the day so please bring warm layers and waterproofs. All riders will need to bring their own lunch, as it will not be provided but there will be a lunch break.
All bikes must be road worthy i.e. have 2 working brakes (this may make BMXs unsuitable). If you have any concerns about the condition of your bike please consult Overspoke Bikes or Bewdley Outdoors. We will not have time to do a thorough check on the day, if your bike is not suitable you will not be allowed to complete the course.
Once you have signed up please get in touch with Hannah at email@example.com. YOUR PLACE CANNOT BE CONFIRMED UNTIL HANNAH HAS PERSONALLY EMAILED TO CONFIRM YOUR PLACE!
