About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Durham Wildlife Trust, in collaboration with Sunderland City Council, is running a day of sessions looking at ageing well.

The afternoon session is a mixture of experience-based activities and workshops which will offer an insight into ways we can positively and effectively life after 50.

The session starts with a guided walk around the reserve allowing participants a chance to immerse themselves in their natural surroundings and learn about the local flora and fauna.

Following this there will be a pond dipping session which will offer a chance to explore the world of water and see just how much life there is in our ponds. We will consider this in the wider context of the other animals that live in the area – and review the importance of the food networks in the water that we hardly ever see…

The afternoon will conclude with a workshop giving people a chance to reflect on and compare their experiences. We will discuss peoples understanding of what ‘aging well’ means and share tips to help focus on the positive aspects of life after 50.

Participants should come dressed appropriately for outdoor activities and be aware of the weather for the day.
