Event description

Description

This interactive training session provides participants with a practical understanding of agile, including scrum, kanban, user stories, agile planning and estimation, with hands-on exercises.

The trainer will be a highly experienced agile coach who will guide participants through a number of exercises, mixed with explanations of fundamental agile techniques, and how they are used in practice.

Topics covered include: agile principles, frameworks, scrum, kanban, agile planning, user stories, estimation, definition of ready/done, acceptance criteria, product demos/review and retrospectives.

The session culminates in an extended exercise where, as a Scrum team, participants will plan, estimate and conduct a number of sprints to build a product for their Product Owner.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Past participants have came from a wide range of roles across multiple functions - development, operations, business/commercial, marketing, HR, finance, and procurement. Sessions have included participants already with agile experience and participants new to agile, all wanting to obtain a practical understanding. There are no pre-requisites.

THE TRAINER

Stephen McAinsh has over 20 years’ experience in process improvement, change management and agile transformations. He is a highly experienced agile coach and has taught Agile Practical sessions to a number of clients including Tesco Bank, Prudential, GB Group and Docman.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE SAID

“I really enjoyed myself, it was interesting, informative and fun"

"I'd been on a similar session in my previous firm and this was easily the best. Good practical exercises bought the subject to life and would benefit anyone about to enter an agile project."

"workshop not only addressed course topics but also took input from the group at the start and factored them into the day"

"the day was just what we needed to bust some myths and re-focus our interactions to make sure we are working as efficient as we can"

“Great workshop pitched at the correct level by Stephen. Well worth waiting for.”

“The training verified my understanding of agile which has not been fully implemented at XXXX. I learnt better ways to work with the scrum team, of which i have already put into practice this week. "

“Very well run, a good mix between theory and practise, it kept the interest going all day. I felt I learned a great deal.”
