5.00 - Opening, Gabe Chomic - ISSA-UK President
Gabe Chomic is President of the ISSA-UK Chapter. In various past lives, he has performed in-depth security engineering in heavy industry & SCADA environments, analysed international business and security processes in fourteen countries, and dabbled in government IT. His current passions involve the economic drivers behind insecurity, the cascading effects of small business failure, and the changing perception of information security in the public eye.
5.10 - Mike St John-Green, 'Combining Safety and Security' - why is it so hard?
Mike StJohn-Green is an independent consultant in cyber security, currently working with a range of clients, primarily in the City of London and Europe. He is a frequent speaker and writer on the topic of cyber security. He co-authored a book on Cyber Resilience that was published earlier this month.
Mike works with the Information Security Forum, the global not-for-profit Member-led organisation that publishes the internationally-recognised Standard of Good Practice. He has also chaired various standards committees in the UK and abroad and has provided advice to Commonwealth countries on developing national Cybersecurity strategies.
He retired in 2013 after more than 39 years working for the UK government, mainly at GCHQ and most recently in the Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance in the Cabinet Office. He had a range of roles in GCHQ, including deputy director CESG, the Information Assurance arm of GCHQ.
Mike is a Chartered Engineer and was made a Fellow of the IET in 2000. He became an Honorary Fellow of the University of Warwick in 2014.
5.40 - Alex Challis, Exabeam 'UBA Awakens, how data science is replacing signatures and rules'
Alex has been helping customers apply emerging innovative technology to gain advantage and mitigate risk in a career spanning nearly three decades. Prior to Exabeam he started-up EMEA operations for what became leading public companies in data security, SIEM and network firewalls; he is consequently able to quickly assess and articulate the business impact of today’s advanced cyber security threats.
Alex holds a BSc Honours degree in Computer Science from Imperial College.

6.25 - Jane Frankland, "Security Today: Gender Diversity, the Skills Shortage, and the Changing Workplace"
Jane Frankland is a successful cyber security entrepreneur, author, speaker and business consultant. She is also a Board Advisor for ClubCISO, a private forum for over 100 senior cyber security FTSE leaders, an SC Magazine Awards Judge and has been nominated for Cyber Security Woman of the Year 2016. She has built and sold her own seven-figure global cyber security consultancy and is frequently invited to speak about entrepreneurship, women in business and cyber security at events around the world.
Jane has over 18 years worth of experience in cyber security and has held directorships and senior executive positions within her own companies and at several large PLCs, including The NCC Group. Through her latest venture, Cyber Security Capital, she is helping to connect people, opportunities and resources.
The question you’ll hear her ask the most in business is ‘what’s your objective?’ The reason why is obvious. Time is precious and unless you know why you’re doing something why do it at all.
