The presentation will be preceded by the Annual General Meeting.
From domestic conversions to multi-storey buildings, this talk will cover the structural design, fire engineering, acoustic performance, manufacture and construction detailing of containers as building units as well as inviting discussion on broader issues including architectural design, cost, carbon footprint and BIM.
Intermodal Steel Building Units or “ISBU’s” are an unusual form of construction, either re-used as a way of reducing waste and embodied energy or newly purpose made for temporary-permanent construction, the modular units have conventional as well as unique challenges in their design and construction.
The talk will be about building with (Shipping) Containers and will cover all aspects from house conversions to multi-storey structures.
