Plant Health Talk for Community Tree Nurseries

Start time 10.30am- 11.30am

Environment – Online session using Zoom from your own laptop/tablet at home, this session is expected to take about 35-45 minutes with extra time for questions and discussion.

Overview of session

The talk will include:

· An introduction to the Plant Health Inspectorate

· An explanation about how legislation affects Community Tree Nurseries

· How to register a Tree Nursery with Plant Health

· An explanation about Plant Passporting and it’s cost

· An overview of current quarantine pests and diseases affecting trees

· A discussion about Biosecurity at the Nursery site

In order to tackle the climate crisis, we support saving local heritage tree seeds and propagation for local projects in Wales. This workshop is part of a training program to enable Welsh communities to register tree seed clusters, collect tree seeds from healthy trees and set up their own tree nurseries to provide saplings for local tree planting projects.
