AHRC Hillforts Atlas Final Conference

This week-end conference will provide an opportunity to explore some of the results of the AHRC-funded Atlas of Hillforts of Britain and Ireland project and to set these into wider contexts. Papers will be presented by members of the Atlas team as well as by colleagues working on related themes within and beyond Britain and Ireland. Members of the Hillfort Study Group, and of the Project Steering Committee have been invited to chair sessions and lead discussion. All are welcome to attend and a particular invitation is extended to those who contributed to the Citizen Science initiative associated with this project.
Speakers include Ian Brown (Oxford), Strat Halliday (Edinburgh), Jonathan Horn (Edinburgh), Gary Lock (Oxford), Simon Maddison UCL), Jessica Murray (Oxford, now Arcadis), Gordon Noble (Aberdeen), William O'Brien (UC Cork), James O'Driscoll (UC Cork) and Ian Ralston (Edinburgh). Mark Bowden (Histroic England), John Collis (Sheffield), Ken Murphy (Dyfed Archaeological Trust), Rachel Pope (Liverpool), Niall Sharples (Cardiff), Kate Waddington (Bangor) and Eileen Wilkes (Bournemouth) will chair or act as discussants. A series of comparisons from France, Spain and Germany will be offered by Sophie Krausz (Bordeaux), Fernando Rodriguez Cueto (Oviedo) and Axel Posluschny (Keltenwelt am Glauberg).
