AHRC Presentations & Workshop
Date and time
Location
Online event
This event is the first in a new funding briefing series of workshops offering practical information and guidance about grant funding
About this event
Open to researchers at all career stages, who wish to improve their knowledge of AHRC schemes and opportunities, and hear directly from successful candidates and other experts, such as panel members.
The AHRC is one of the most prestigious funders for world-class research across the arts and humanities in the UK, funding around 300 projects worth £110 million each year. AHRC has funded a number of projects and range of research at ECA, from work on cultural heritage to the creative industries, to innovative design research.
In the event, we hear from a range of colleagues on diverse grants – fellowship grants that have enabled personal fundamental research; co-Is on highly collaborative grants; grants with complex governance models, and grants with a strong impact story. We hear from colleagues at different career stages, from ECRs to senior researchers, and across disciplines.
We will also hear from ECA-based members of AHRC’s peer review college.
We hear about tips for writing successful applications, challenges, and setbacks, what AHRC funding has enabled, and advice on managing the grant.
Schedule
The event will be in 2 parts:
Part 1 - from 10.00 until 12.25
Open to all CAHSS colleagues: live presentations from grant holders/awardees across the different AHRC schemes and peer review panel members, expert advice on AHRC applications from ERO and RKEI
Speakers include Prof Juliette MacDonald , Prof Chris Speed, Prof Melissa Terras, Dr Jake Blanc, Prof Ed Hollis, Mr John Brennan and Dr Craig Martin. A presentation from Professor Christopher Smith, Exec. Chair of AHRC, will also be shared.
Part 2 - from 12.25 until 13.40
Open only to ECA colleagues - a workshop for participants to discuss applications in progress or ideas for proposals.
The workshop is an opportunity for ECA colleagues to discuss in small groups AHRC applications in progress or ideas for proposals, and receive feedback and advice.
We are therefore inviting interested colleagues to submit a draft proposal. Proposals will be shared amongst your discussion group in advance of the workshop.
You will be added to a group for discussion on the day, split into breakout rooms. Full details will be sent to you before the workshop.
