About this Event

This is our fourth annual AI Forum Hungary event and you can find the prelimenary agenda here.

This is a most challenging period for the Forum as a community but equally it is arguably a pivotal year in the application of AI in terms of scientific and technical research. The search for the origins of Covid-19 and a suitable medical response, including the development of a vaccine, has all exploited developments in machine Intelligence.

Yet for the keen observer, some of these applications, underpinned by credible AI, have been a cause for concern, demonstrating as they do, the potential for the misuse of data and individual privacy.

Therefore the theme for this year’s conference will be the use of AI in the response to Covid-19 and an analysis of what this might mean for future directions in AI development and its impact on society.

A strong blend of expert speakers will examine the impact of AI on pandemic and public health early warning, the implications of machine intelligence for patient treatment and future synthetic biological innovation in vaccine development.

Another group of speakers will speculate on the downside of AI’s role in monitoring and surveillance of the population as a byproduct of viral infection tracking and tracing. This debate will also involve an examination of future trends in such data harvesting and surveillance and how this might impact on future politics and the individual.
