About this event

Family & Education • Education

Artificial intelligence now touches every part of daily life, from lecture halls to homework desks. For today’s undergraduates and secondary school students, the question isn’t if they will use AI, but how. Do we need a new approach to preparing young people for the workplace? And how can educators foster character and critical thinking, so that AI becomes a tool for creativity and problem-solving rather than a substitute for thought?

The event will take place at University of Birmingham School from 16.30 - 17.30. Doors open from 16.00 for refreshments in the atrium.

Parking is available at the School. If you park in the community, please park considerately. Accessible parking and bicycle parking is available at the front of the School.

Presenters

  • Dr. Sarah Montano - Professor fo Retail Marketing, Business School at the University of Birmingham.
  • Dr. Matt Edwards - Employability & Enterprise Learning Development Consultant at the University of Birmingham.

What is Rush Hour Research?

UoB School provides a significant focus both for sharing of and the generation of research.

We aim to increase teachers’ access to high-quality research through hosting conferences and meetings and inviting academics to lead our ‘Rush Hour Research’ event series.

Staff at the School have access to academic journals and are well-read and up to date. Many of our teachers already hold masters and doctoral qualifications when they join and many more then take up opportunities for further study.

We receive a high level of interest in conducting research at the School and are engaged in a significant number of projects, both local and national. Research at the School takes a variety of forms, for example participation in large randomly controlled trials, co-creation of research between academic staff, pupils and teachers, and projects led by academic teams at the School of Education.

We welcome expressions of interest in research at or with the School. Please email us on reception@uobschool.org.uk to discuss.
