AI Unwrapped: Applications in Food and Drink
Overview
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to technologies that enable computers and machines to replicate human capabilities such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, creativity, and decision-making.
In the food and drink industry, AI is being used to transform every stage of the value chain — from food production and precision agriculture to quality control, personalised nutrition, supply chain management, and customer experience.
This webinar will introduce both Generative AI and more traditional Machine Learning approaches, highlighting their practical applications across the sector. Topics will include:
· What AI is and how it’s being applied in food and drink — including manufacturing efficiencies, sensors and robotics, market insights, new product development (NPD), procurement, and logistics.
· Where AI delivers the greatest benefits for businesses.
· How SMEs can begin their AI journey effectively.
Guest Speakers:
· Sam Rynss from Seventeen Points, currently leading the AI Readiness Programme for HIE, will introduce AI concepts and applications in the food and drink sector. She will also share a real-life case study from Appleby Creamery, demonstrating how AI and sensor technologies have been used to improve efficiency and performance in cheese production.
· A second case study (food manufacturer – TBC) will showcase another example of AI implementation to enhance food + drink manufacturing operations.
· The session will conclude with William Diamond from Icelantic, who will provide an overview of Cyber Essentials, including the grants available to help businesses achieve Cyber Essentials certification.
