Welcome to AI & You!
A panel aimed at exploring how people-centric approaches to AI can demystify its uses, help us address issues of the digital divide and inclusion, and harness it for good in the voluntary and community sector. As with all our events, we are also excited for this to be an opportunity for our funders and grantees to meet, interact with, and learn from each other.
The panel will include artist and AI Ethics researcher Lorenzo Belenguer, who also works with the Westminster City Council as a Community Priorities Programme Advisor. Lorenzo’s research looks at AI, philosophy, algorithmic biases, and machine-centric solutions.
Elliot Drew is a senior data scientist at consumer insights and market research company Zappi. His experience spans across machine learning, web development, and bioinformatics, including a PhD in structural biology.
Smera Jayadeva, research assistant at Alan Turing Institute, has been working on data justice and global ethical futures under Turing’s public program. Her previous research experiences extend across medical AI, geopolitics, policy, and disruptive technologies.
Adam Omar is the founder of Stealth, AI product manager at Government Digital Service, and a founding member of the social enterprise Somalis in Tech, which aims to leverage tech for social good.
