Event description
Aid Matters in Hitchin invites you to find out more about UK Aid and International Development from a local returned overseas volunteer

About this Event

"Charity begins at home - why should we help people overseas?"

Good question. The UK government provides aid to countries all around the world living in extreme poverty, mainly via our world respected aid agency, the Department for International Development. But do we really need this? What good is it doing around the world?

This event, held by Aid Matters in Hitchin, aims to answer those questions. We'll be talking about what UK Aid really means, what it does, why we do it and we'll be joined by our guest speaker, Hector Duncan.

Hector is from Hitchin, he's recently returned from volunteering overseas in Nepal with Raleigh International, helping to bring clean and safe water to rural communities. He has first hand experience as to why some countries need a helping hand and will be sharing his story as well as answering question following his unique experience.

This is a free event, offering a glimpse into another part of the world, excellent conversation, and, of course, refreshments!
