Akiyama Connects presents the launch of "Women In Business”. This event led by Helen Akiyama, is designed to empower and highlight women in Business and raise awareness of gender issues.
The evening will commence with a short ‘meet and greet’ session followed by a presentation from our inspirational guest speaker Rie Yoshitake. Rie Yoshitake began her business career in 1990 in London, then became the sole UK representative of a Japanese trading company and spent ten years overseeing their London operations. Rie’s extensive portfolio as a consultant includes work with governments, UK and Japan based organisations and businesses
The title of the first talk is “Japanese women in business-bridging the gender gap by 2020 for more balance in life and employment” . Before the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, the Japanese government has set a target to achieve more than 15% of corporate leadership positions to be filled by women. The current level is only 9.2 % and increasing diversity within the workplace is an important agenda for all. It's time to get motivated and support women in business with renewed energy as an advancement would surely bring a positive outcome for the individual not to mention a positive outcome for the business and the nation.
Rie Yoshitake's principal desire is to create a liaison between the interests of Japan and Britain and their respective markets. She truly is “bridging culture and business” and her insights will provide inspiration for females both here and in Japan to achieve more and utilise their full potential. Rie Yoshitake will also answer questions from the audience at which will proceed into enjoying a glass of a specialty sake provided by a renowned Japanese brewery.
I look forward to welcoming and connecting with you on the evening.
