Event description
Albion: Songs of Love and Connection. The David Megginson Memorial Concert supporting St Lawrence Church Barlow

About this event

You are invited to join us and help to create a unique and beautiful Albion choral experience in this special concert held in memory of David Megginson. It will include the premiere of a new song, written especially for David.

We are celebrating our tenth anniversary with a new record, live performances, and a fresh focus - the music that we think the world needs right now: Songs of Love and Connection. In this new programme, we sing quirky arrangements that use the incredible power of the human voice to dance sound around the venue, creating a captivatingly intimate vocal performance.

While some of the songs and words might be deeply, anciently familiar, Fraser Wilson’s colourful re-imaginings mean you’ll hear them in a sparkling new light, with music ranging from WB Yeats’ He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven to What The World Needs Now, and Greensleeves to Carol Ann Duffy’s September 2014.

Performing and collaborating with all kinds of people, Albion’s purpose is to forge connections, create beauty, and in its own way, help to change the world through music.

Whether or not you know what to expect, we hope you join us for a moving, uplifting, and thoroughly beautiful experience of choral music-making.

Refreshments- strawberries and prosecco - will be served during the interval.

This concert is raising funds for The Church of St Lawrence, Barlow, where David is buried. Tickets are free with a suggested minimum donation of £10 per person (cash or cheque) on the day.
