Event description

Description

João Florêncio, Lecturer in History of Modern and Contemporary Art and Visual Culture at University of Exeter, explores the political and aesthetic value of refusing a ‘poetics of spectacularity’ when engaging with illness. Drawing from Alex Baczynski-Jenkins’ new work and speaking from a position ‘beside’ the binary of health and malady, Florêncio examines the dull moments of illness, the unremarkable symptoms that signal its presence in our ordinary lives.

The event will start at 7pm and latecomers' tickets may be reallocated.
