ALFA Lifeline 24-Hour Walking Football Fundraiser
Fri, 19 May 2017, 10:00 – Sat, 20 May 2017, 10:00 BST
ALFA Lifeline will be hosting a UK-first '24 hour Walking Football Fundraiser' event as part of National Walking Month. Active Lives Fulfilling Ambitions (ALFA) have been delivering walking football provision in Greater Manchester since April 2015 as part of Lifeline Project's early intervention and prevention strategy to tackle social isolation. The significant health risks associated with isolation are apparent through increased alcohol intake, smoking and other drugs amongst other unhealthy behaviours. The sessions provide support to players on a range of health and well-being topics & also offer additional volunteering opportunities & the chance to play in local, regional and national competitions.
The event itself is a 5-a-side format and will see representative teams from ALFA Lifeline playing throughout the 24 hours whilst every hour an external team will come to play and support this amazing event. Maximum number of players per team is 8.
If you would like to enter a team into the event please click the 'Tickets' link to the right of this page and select a time-slot. (NOTE: time slots to play must be arranged and confirmed with the event organisers prior to payment)
If you would like to donate to our fundraising event please click the link 'Tickets' to the right of this page and then 'Donate' (note the minimum donation amount is £5)
The games will follow the new Walking Football rules which were released by the FA earlier this year. You can find a copy of the rules via: http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/feb/22/laws-of-walking-football-launched-220217
