Alfred Hitchcock - The Pleasure Garden with live music score
Saturday, 28 September 2013 from 19:30 to 22:30 (BST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Two of Alfred Hitchcock’s finest early films recently restored by the BFI, are being screened at the Pier Theatre with specially commissioned live scores. The Pleasure Garden on Saturday 28 September and Blackmail on Saturday 5 October.
The Pleasure Garden was Hitchcock’s first ever film and although it was made when he was just 25 years old, many of the signature themes and idiosyncrasies to be found in his more famous later works are present. It follows the romances and fortunes of two chorus girls, Patsy Brand and Jill Cheyne, who work at the Pleasure Garden music hall. Accompanied by Jack Maguire and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra players, conducted by Chris Austin. Composer Daniel Patrick Cohen will introduce the performance.
