This one-day meeting will start with a hybrid presentation on the wreck of the London, with focus on the leather recovered from this 17th century warship. The presentation will be given by ALG members Quita Mould and Angela Middleton, who have both worked on the leather artefacts. After a lunch break in-person participants will be able to see some of the leather from the London for themselves, as well as other leather objects in the collection of Southend Museums. The day will finish with a visit to the exhibition “The London shipwreck – Her final voyage”, which opened at the end of May 2025 and runs for a year.
Both, Beecroft Art Gallery and Central Museum Southend are conveniently located next to Southend Victoria train station, which can easily be reached via regular trains from London. For those, who would like to stay on after the exhibition, we can arrange a group booking and dinner (the city centre is a short walk from the museum).
