AN OPEN-AIR FAMILY PRODUCTION THAT HAPPENS MOSTLY OFF THE GROUND…

About this event

A story for all ages, but definitely a story for adults, reminding us of that time of growing up, when everything is contradictory; when you move into a world that seems unfair, with absurd rules and regulations which seems pure madness!

But also thrilling, exciting and full of wonder (and aerial)

Alice sits on a riverbank on a warm summer day, drowsily reading over her sister’s shoulder, when she catches sight of a White Rabbit running by her. He pulls out a pocket watch, exclaims that he is late, and pops down a rabbit hole. Alice follows, down the hole and into Aerialand....where she is guided by the shelf people, shrinks and grows, swims, enters a sham of a garden, has an argument with a Caterpillar, drinks tea (tries to) with the Hatter, gets enchanted by a Cheshire Cat and finally pays a visit to her ruler - The Queen of Hearts - on the day of her Platinum Jubilee!

A story of wonder and nonsense laced with lethal wit, of games, of riddles and conundrums, of questions with no answers, but above all of magic and adventure in which everyone, young and old, can lose themselves and revel in the nonsense. But most of all it is a universal tale that reaches out to everyone.

Alice’s Adventures in Aerialand is a family show that has been developed to be accessible for all, including those living with dementia (a dementia friendly show) and PMLD.

Running Time (1 hour no interval)

Location: Open Air in the Quiet Garden and Myatts Fields Park. Bring a picnic, a chair or a blanket.

Wet Weather: The company will continue despite the rain, if rain is predicted or worse a storm, the production will be moved to inside at Longfield Hall (next door but one to the park).

Adapted by The Dot Collective’s ensemble of actor/aerialists from Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, the show uses high sensory storytelling, with aerial circus, puppetry, verse and music. Have you heard of Cirque du Soleil? Did you ever think that something like that could be performed at your park? Well it is so come along!
