Join surgeon-writer Gabriel Weston for an inspiring evening which combines medicine with storytelling.
Gabriel Weston was never cut out to be a doctor. Terrible at Maths and Science at school, and with nothing more than an arts degree to recommend her, getting into medical school seemed like an impossible dream. 30 years later, with a hybrid career in surgery, writing and broadcasting, Weston feels passionately that all sorts of people can make good doctors, and that a career in medicine can be more adventurous and creative than we're led to believe.
In this talk, Weston will describe her unlikely medical career as well as making a case for why the anatomy we learn at medical school is itself in need of urgent resuscitation.
The event will be introduced by Dr Luca Di Gregorio, Senior Teaching Fellow in Medical Education (Faculty of Medicine).
Please note that copies of Gabriel Weston's book, Alive, will also be available to purchase at the event, courtesy of October Books.
