About this event

A local resident and leading expert, Fiona Barker, will take you on a journey through the ear. Discover how the hearing and balance mechanisms work, how they are assessed and how problems are managed, and how there is much more to your ears than just hearing, important as hearing is.

Fiona is a registered Healthcare Scientist. Over a 30-year career in the NHS and the private sector she has developed a focus on the assessment and management of hearing and vestibular problems that affect parts of the inner ear that help with balance. She has a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine and a post graduate certificate in evidence-based psychological therapy, as well as a special interest in the consultation process and in the psychological impact of dizziness.

You will learn how your ears work and how they contribute to important aspects of your health and daily life.
