This 3-week long Online Course takes place over 3 weekends:
Saturday, 4 October, one hour
Saturday, 11 October, one & a half hour
Saturday, 18 October, one hour
The course is carefully crafted for those who want to illustrate children's books.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Must be 18+
- You can be either a published / self-published/unpublished illustrator
- You can be a writer who wants to learn how your picture book illustrations are created
Participants will be mentored by internationally published, award-winning illustrator, graphic novelist, and film producer, Debasmita Dasgupta. She will share her illustration process from start to end, along with industry tips to get published. The sessions will be filled with interactive exercises and real-time group conversations.
Participants will LEARN the tools and tips of children's book illustration AND create sample illustrations for their art portfolio.
All sessions will be RECORDED and shared with participants for future reference, along with a bunch of useful HANDOUTS.

ABOUT THE MENTOR:
Debasmita Dasgupta is an award-winning picture book illustrator, graphic novelist, and film producer. Born in Calcutta, India, Debasmita now lives in the UK with a First Class Distinction MA Degree in Children’s Book Illustrations & Graphic Novels in London. Debasmita’s illustrated stories have been published in the UK, USA, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, and Canada. She works with publishers including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Oxford University Press, Flying Eye Books, Lerner Books, Barefoot Books, and more. Her illustrated animation shorts have been showcased at the Raindance Film Festival in London & Toronto. She also produces international feature films based on stories originating from South Asia and Southeast Asia. Partnering with global development agencies, national book councils, artistic networks, and international schools, Debasmita trains emerging visual storytellers. She actively advocates for diversity and multiculturalism in children’s literature.
