All Change at Bank

Bank and Monument stations form the fourth busiest interchange on the London Underground network.

By 2021 the interlinked stations will feature several new escalators, a new station entrance and more room for Northern line passengers. The extensive redevelopment presents substantial engineering, design, construction, stakeholder engagement and project programme challenges. To achieve an optimum solution the Innovative Contractor Engagement (ICE) tendering approach was trialled for the first time within London Underground resulting in significant improvements on the initial design, construction and business case.

This is an exciting opportunity for WTS London members to visit the site and hear from people on the ground. A presentation, lasting about an hour, will cover the Transport Works Act, case making, an overview of the proposals, operational issues surrounding rebuild and stakeholder issues which need to be taken into consideration on build. This will be followed by a walking tour of approximately one hour of the station covering what each individual part of the project programme will deliver.

Open only to WTS Members and limited to 20 attendees – please book early to avoid disappointment.

Women in Transport

Women in Transport was originally established in 2005 as WTS London,  the first European Chapter of WTS International, which has been running in the United States since 1977.  In 2017 we became an independent organisation.

We aim to promote and support the professional development of women working in the transport industry. Women are typically under-represented in transport, and while there are many women’s equality networks and groups, Women in Transport is focused specifically on employment and career advancement within the industry.

We provide a platform for dialogue between women working in transport in the UK, as well as a range of opportunities and benefits such as career development, workshops,  networking  opportunities and a mentoring scheme.

We also have a lively and varied events programme the majority of which are exclusive to our members and are free to attend.
