All Change for Art Deco! Codes, connections and kiosks in Kings Cross
Overview
We start our walk on Euston Road – please note that the exact meeting place will be clearly described in words via email after purchase (please see more info in the FAQs below).
......................................
Follow a trail of 1920s and 1930s architecture to see how the area around Euston Road evolved during this period due to better connections in many ways.
Discover hidden delights in the gaps between the old and the very new – specifically some lovely examples of Art Deco and Modernist architecture.
We'll meander along back streets and through green squares to admire impressive municipal buildings, residential developments, sports halls, places of learning and social hubs. Find out about the people who are associated with these buildings, exchanges of various kinds, and links to Dr Crippen and Dr Who.
At the end of the tour we'll look inside a 1930’s pub that retains a lot of its original fittings including some marvellously evocative marquetry – do join me for an after-walk cocktail or a half of shandy.
- 2hrs / 1.5 miles approx
- Ends near Euston station

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The walks and talks I offer are all on subjects that intrigue me and each one highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture of our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them. For more information, please visit www.janeslondonwalks.com
