Event description

Description

Concert of music reflecting themes in the current exhibition in the Crossley Gallery in Dean Clough Mills, Halifax, in which photographic projects consider the artistic representation of animals within a scientific context. The programme of a capella music includes English and French madrigals, English partsongs by Stanford, and Finzi, songs by Mendelssohn, Hindemith, Gjeilo and a special performance of Broad Waters by Henryk Gorecki which has some connection, more or less direct, to water. Halifax Chamber Choir was founded in 1899 as the Halifax Madrigal Society. The name changed in 1989 to reflect the wider range of choral repertoire which includes a wide range of sacred and secular music spanning the centuries. The choir performs in Halifax and other venues in West Yorkshire.
