Closing the Learning and Communication Gap for Individuals with Complex Needs:
All Engaged, All Communicate, All Learn!
Edinburgh - 6th & 7th October 2016
Nottingham - 12th & 13th October 2016
Join Tobii Dynavox and Rett University for a one or two day, in-depth, practical, hands-on session.
This session is customised for anyone working with individuals with complex needs to learn effective communication and literacy strategies that work. Susan Norwell, M.A. Special Education, from Rett University along with the Tobii Dynavox Speech and Language Therapist and training team, will lead each day. They will share proven practical techniques that will focus your efforts on cultivating and building communication and literacy with nonverbal individuals. These workshops are primarily focusing on individuals with/working and living with Rett Syndrome but the teaching will be applicable to all non-verbal individuals with complex needs e.g. Severe Cerebral Palsy, Angelman Syndrome, Fragile X, PURA Syndrome.
This powerful training experience, exploring both soft and high tech options (such as eye gaze devices, ABC and CoreWord flipcharts) is designed to support those working/living with nonverbal individuals with the key foundations of communication and literacy learning. What makes this experience different from any other is the full day workshop with extensive real-time practical use, application and simulation experiences designed to enable participants to thoroughly learn essential “how-tos” of communication and literacy skills. The additional half day experience will allow the transfer of the newly learned skills into their own experiences (with their child, student or client) within a wide range of environments and age groups- home, classroom, community, etc.
