My annual "all included" lunch event is to be held at the Manor by the Lake on Wednesday 15 May 2024 starting with teas/coffees at 11.45am.
The format is the same as my Women in Business events - an opportunity for networking, a talk from an inspirational speaker and a two-course lunch.
Danny Matthews will be our speaker, and his talk is called:
"ROWE - a cultural experiment on working environments."
ROWEs are Results Only Work Environments - and they are a radical new way of working that is beneficial for both employer and employee - leading to cost savings, employee retention, and a purpose-driven mindset that leads to happier customers and higher revenues.
The pandemic presented employees and employers with some culture defining challenges when it comes to when, where and how work gets done. Since then a range of methods have been attempted to re-balance work culture, only for it to lead to quiet quitting, the great resignation and the 'lazy girl job’. It’s pushing talent away, into better working environments and forcing companies to take drastic action to enforce returning to the old way of working. Danny will share his own culture experiment and what he learned from it.
Danny is the Founder of Short Story Ventures, a venture studio who help early-stage founders build a fundable start-up brand. He has invested in four companies, advises two start-ups and helps around 100 more get to market each year as a director of the Founder Institute - the world's largest pre-seed accelerator.
As always, there will be an opportunity for our questions too.
These lunches allow us to:
- relax over a delicious meal in a luxurious private dining room
- connect and network with business people from all kinds of background
- establish new connections, new working relationships and new friendships, as well as developing existing ones. As the numbers are capped at 24 there is usually opportunity to connect with most people in the room during the event
- promote our businesses, ourselves and our connections
- learn from each other, and to help us be better at what we do.
The set lunch consists of two courses (main and dessert) plus coffee/tea. Alternative options can be made available, but you will need to notify me of any dietary requirements in advance.

- this is a ‘not for profit’ venture - we split the cost between attendees;
- unfortunately, we can’t permit cancellations once you’ve booked and paid, as the venue is paid in full in advance.
