Description

The 2nd Annual Conference of the All-Island Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Network takes place this year in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in the magnificent setting of Riddel Hall at Queen's University Belfast.

This is a free 2-day conference for all involved in the care of children, young people and adults with CHD in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Key themes for the 2017 Conference will be "Inherited Cardiac Conditions" and "The Child with Complex CHD". Day 1 shall have a primarily clinical focus, whilst Day 2 shall be focused on patients and families. Healthcare professionals, patients and families can attend one day or both days. Please select the appropriate options in the registration section.

A conference dinner will be held in the wonderful surroundings of the Great Hall at Queens University Belfast on the evening of Friday 17 November. Registration and payment details for this dinner will be issued shortly.

The conference programme will be announced in early September.

On Day 2 of the conference (Sat 18 Nov) a creche for 0-11 year olds and a teens workshop for 12-16 year olds will run alongside the main conference. To avail of these options please fill in the required information at registration.

What time does the conference start and end at?

This is a 2 day conference.

Day 1 has a primarily clinical focus and runs from 8.30am to 5.30pm.

Day 2 shall be focused on patients and families and runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Healthcare professionals, patients and families can attend one day or both days.


What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The conference venue is part of Queen's University and is located less than a mile from the main university campus and 2 miles from Belfast City Centre. For further details on the venue including directions please click here.

Some parking is available at the venue. Delegates can also use free public car parking facilities located at the bottom of Stranmillis Road (5 minutes walk from Riddel Hall). For special access requirements, we will endeavour to accommodate requests for reserved parking as far as possible with the spaces available.


Are there delegate rates for hotels in the local area?

The conference venue is part of Queen's University and is located less than a mile from the main university campus. A range of accommodation options within easy access of the venue can be found online. Are there creche facilities for families?

For families attending Day 2 of the conference (Sat 18) there will be a creche available onsite. The creche will cater for children aged 0 - 11 years old.

Places must be reserved in advance of the conference as there will be limited availability and we expect it to be very popular. If you have ticked use of the creche facilities within the registration process, a representative from the Children's Heartbeat Trust will be in contact to confirm availablity and gather other required information.

What is the Teens Workshop?

For families attending Day 2 of the conference (Sat 18) there will also be a teens workshop running alongside the main conference. This workshop is for 12-16 year olds and is open to teenagers with a heart condition and their siblings. The content of the workshop will be announced in early September and will provide an opportunity for learning new skills and making new friendships.

Places must be reserved in advance of the conference as there will be limited availability and we expect it to be very popular. If you have ticked interest in the teens workshop within the registration process, a representative from the Children's Heartbeat Trust will be in contact to confirm availablity and gather other required information.
