We really look forward to our June Event which usually attracts about 80 teachers who are keen enough to get up early on a Saturday morning to be inspired by great speakers and friendly, like-minded colleagues.

Many thanks as always to our superb speakers, sponsors and volunteers who make this possible.

Seeing the wood and the trees: grammar and content at KS3

 Dr Rachel Hawkes

In this session we search for a balance; in one hand we hold the importance of mastering key grammatical concepts and reducing the overcrowding of our KS3 schemes of work, and in the other, we acknowledge that grammar needs meaning, and that it makes sense to use our structures to express meanings that relate to content that students actually need for GCSE.

Rachel works across the eight schools in the CAM Academy Trust. Director of International Education and Research, and SLE for languages, she is also a former President of ALL.  We are very lucky that she always makes room for ALL London in her busy life, and we are always amazed at the wealth of ideas she shares, drawing on her research and practice.

11:35   – 12:05

EXHIBITION Comfort   break / top-up of coffee / chance to ‘network’ / view info sent from   corporate members, speakers, and our sponsors.

12.10-13:10

Exact details to be confirmed, but one of the sessions will feature teachers from 'London Challenge' giving us tips and practical ideas.  They have been trained on action research and will be writing their report by mid-May and they look forward to sharing their findings with other language teachers.

The chance to continue networking with colleagues at a 'show and tell'.  A room will be available for us in the afternoon in the same building.  Please indicate on your registration if you wish to attend an dbring along a packed lunch if you want to nibble while sharing!

Organiser

ALL London

We are the London branch of the national  Association for Language Learning. (ALL)  See our website for full details and join the Yahoo mflresources group which we moderate for on-going discussion and sharing.

We organise regular London-based events throughout the year for local members to encourage close and sustainable networking between  people.  We are inclusive!  Although we strongly encourage people to join ALL which supports work done at a national level,  our events are open to all those who care about language learning, and we love it when people join us from other parts of the country (or the world!)

Our local events  complement events organised at a national level.   An enthusiastic and lively committee plans the  events  as shown by the online diary.  Please  contact us for further information in any way which suits you best.
