You‘ll need to dress for exercise. Riders don’t need to be lycra’d out but baggy clothes aren’t practical. Shorts and a cotton short sleeve shirt work well but you can bring cycling kit if you’d like. Other items to bring:

Eastlands and Sportcity Velo Cycling Club

The Eastlands & Sportcity Velo Clubs

Eastlands and Sportcity Velo are two clubs run together. Eastlands Velo our youth club and Sportcity Velo our Junior Club. The clubs meet at the HSBC National Cycling Centre on Mondays, Saturdays and Wednesdays depending on your skill level. Mondays is our beginners session, open to all youth riders. Riders typically progress from the Monday to Saturdays after 4 to 6 sessions but all riders are different. Saturdays Intermediate session (run 8am to 11am) is open to first claim club members having passed our Monday requirements. Club membership information is available from our website link here: Saturday is comprised of three groups and a typical rider gain race accreditation in six months time (again, all riders are different). The Wednesday advanced session runs 6pm to 8pm and available to racing club members accredited through our Saturday session. Wednesday riders must race, many participating in the HSBC National Cycling Centre Monday and/or Friday night track leagues running September to April.

Our current membership includes double Commonwealth Gold-Medallist and 2018 & 2017 double – World Para-Cycling Track Champion Matt Rotherham (Tandem Pilot – Kilo and Sprint with Neil Fachie and James Ball), 2018 National  Keirin Champion and 2017 National Sprint Champion Jess Crampton and over the years our members have included Olympic gold medallists Jason Kenny (2008 Team Sprint Gold, 2012 match sprint & team sprint Golds and 2016 Team Sprint, Individual Sprint & Keirin Golds), Steven Burke (2012 & 2016 team pursuit Golds), 2017 Junior Sprint Silver medallist Lauren Bate and Simon and Adam Yates (road race stars from the Giro d’Italia, Tour of Turkey and the Tour de France).  Jason joined the club in 2000, and Steven arrived in 2002. Both moved on to Sportcity Velo, winning national titles there and then on to the British Cycling talent programme.  Twin brothers Simon and Adam joined the club in 2004, and both made their mark in major road races in 2014; they are currently riding for the Orica-BikeExchange cycling team.  Last year Adam became the first British cyclist to win the Tour de France’s white jersey as best young rider, finishing in fourth place in the overall classification.
