For: Universal EYFS = All Practitioners working with EYFS children in a Day Nursery, Pre-School, Out of School Provision or as a Childminder

Live Training Event - Wednesday 4 February 2026 from 9:30am - 12:30pm

Employers, managers and DSLs have statutory duties to meet if an allegation or low-level concern is made about a member of staff. It is vital that all allegations about staff are dealt with correctly to ensure that anyone working with children is prevented from harming them. This may involve multi-agency investigations and working with LADO.

The course also looks at low level concerns about staff how this should be measured and responded to.

Course aims and objectives

· Understand your role and responsibilities with responding to allegations

· Understand the role of the LADO (Designated Officer)

· Know about the processes involved in conducting an investigation

· Know how to manage the suspension of a member of staff about whom an allegation has been made

· Consider safer working practices for adults working with children

Learning outcomes

· Know their statutory duties when responding to an allegation

· Be able to follow the statutory guidance in reporting allegations to LADO

· Know how to safeguard children reporting allegations

· Be able to implement safeguarding policies and procedures to safeguard children and staff

· Be able to conduct an investigation

· Know the Harm Thresholds

Take-Away Element

Employers and Managers will be confident in the correct processes to follow should an allegation be made about a member of staff to ensure all setting meet their statutory safeguarding duties.
