A FREE EVENT FOR FOOD BUSINESS OPERATORS SELLING FOOD LOOSE AND PREPACKED FOR DIRECT SALE (PPDS)


Food allergies affect around two million people in the UK and when people suffering with intolerances and coeliac disease are also factored in, that figure is even higher. Hospital admissions for serious allergic reactions are also on the increase, with the riskiest eating situations being those where the allergy sufferer is eating away from home. This represents a serious challenge; not only for those living with the conditions but also for businesses who need to supply these consumers with food that is safe.


Regulations and guidance around how to inform consumers about allergens have seen a number of changes in recent years, and it can prove hard to keep up with what the right and legal approach is. Understanding the different requirements can be a challenge, and now with the introduction of Natasha’s Law, which is only applicable to foods sold prepacked for direct sale (PPDS), there are potentially more challenges ahead.


On the 2 October 2019, we will be hosting a briefing session in Reading UK, where we will be discussing the best approaches you can take to manage allergens effectively both in your business and in how you provide information to your customers. We will discuss the challenges that consumers currently face, what the current and new allergen information legislation requirements are and the steps you need to take to ensure your business is compliant. During the day we will also talk through previous allergen related incidents to understand what went well and the learnings we can take away, including steps businesses can put into practice to prevent reoccurrence.


This event will provide you with a unique opportunity to network, discuss current issues and share ideas with fellow industry professionals and RSSL’s allergen experts.
