Alleyways of the Old City a London Walks virtual tour
Event Information
About this Event
Beneath the modern glass and steel buildings of the financial district runs a warren of ancient alleyways, where events have left their marks.
Passages walked by Shakespeare, Chaucer and Thomas Beckett. To look down these lanes is to catch a glimpse of medieval London. In the nooks and crannies of the city there are treasures to be found. Churchyards, pubs and trade guilds all bustled with life through the centuries.
In this hour long virtual tour, we'll discover some of the secrets of the city, the ones hidden down the darkest alleyways. And we see where modern buildings and sculptures are complimenting the old routes. We'll visit the sites of some of the most important events of the city, actual and fictional. To walk her lanes, courts, passages and alleys is to feel the pulse of a trading city, and understand the passing of time.
Reviews for Fiona's other virtual tours
Lure of the Underground virtual tour with Fiona was Brilliant "Walk". Well presented, carefully researched and very interesting tour. Fiona knows her stuff and is keen to tell the story. Technology worked well and online you can see things not able to on the real walk so you lose some but win a lot.
Fiona's virtual Lure of the Underground was fascinating. We both loved it.

The Virtual Lure of the Underground with Fiona Lukas was outstanding - full of fascinating information, well illustrated and presented in a very lively and good humoured way. I shall certainly keep an eye open for future online walks with Fiona - and when possible real ones too!
I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot! It’s a great idea and really makes the best of the technology.
