Event description

Description

This is a two-day programme, on-site instructor-led training. It covers the following:

  • Covers best practices, tools, and models that your team can directly apply to their work of managing partners for immediate improvement in the performance of your Alliances and Partnerships,
  • Promotes experiential learning by focusing on the application of skills and knowledge in case scenario class exercises,
  • Provides a common vocabulary and glossary of terms as commonly used in the profession,
  • Integrates your specific experience into the course through discussion and application of masterclass learnings.

This Masterclass is in an interactive format design. Participants apply best practices and principles to alliances and partnerships management situations and choose the best course of action in solving a difficult situation. The focus is on team problem solving within the context of case study scenarios, simulating the situations alliance/partner managers face everyday and challenging participants to apply what they know.

This masterclass is based on known skills and competencies required for Alliance professionals as critical to the success of collaborative business relationships. The intent of our masterclass is to develop and hone the skills of the participating business professional.

We designed the masterclass for alliances, partnerships and business managers, who are involved in the decision making process of creating and managing alliances and partnerships. The masterclass has previously been given in tailored in-house classes as well as in generic open registration classes.

Outline of this Masterclass

This high level outline provides an overview of the topics that will be on the agenda of this Masterclass. We would expect the 2 days to begin about 10am and finish by 4pm, with appropriate breaks including a lunch break.

  • Welcome & Introductions
  • What are Alliances?
  • Alliance specific strategy
  • Partner analysis and selection
  • Building trust & creating value
  • Operational planning
  • Alliance structuring & Governance
  • Launching & Management
  • Transform, Innovate, Exit
  • Closing of the Masterclass

This outline covers the full alliance lifecycle; it allows ample room for extensive discussion to dive deeper into those topics that are relevant for the participants. We will not only discuss tools and best practices but especially also culture and behavior. During the masterclass, we review concepts and models of alliance management and discuss the case scenarios to draw out the experiential learning from the participants. We will integrate discussion of your actual alliances and partnerships where possible

Tools provided:

  • Glossary of Terms - Commonly used terms in alliance management.
  • Scenarios - The course is built around experiential scenario learning. Much of the learning comes from interaction with your teammates in solving the issues presented in these scenarios. The learnings are applicable across all industries and alliance types. As an alternative to working with scenarios, we can choose to apply the learnings during the Masterclass on your current alliances and partnerships.
  • Worksheets, templates and EBooks - many tools are provided within the context of the masterclass materials.

Masterclass Flow

One best practice we encourage is to ask all participants to complete the pre-workshop assessment. These can be done confidentially and submitted to Anoop Nathwani at Consortio Consulting for compilation. We can then use the information to determine which aspects of the masterclass content bear special attention.
